Visitors Welcome!!!
If you will be visiting with us soon, here is some helpful information to make your morning easier. All children birth through sixth grade are registered in the Child Education Center (CEC) building. This is the building used by Chico Christian School, with the pillars. After registering your child/children, you will escort them to their respective rooms where we ask you to show your child’s small group leader (or classroom leader for Early Childhood) their registration card. On this card will be a number given to your child for the day. This number will be displayed in the dome on the upper, left wall if there is a need for you to return to your child. At the end of service, you will need to trade your registration card for your child. We have maps of our campus showing where our classes meet. Service starts at 10:30; we begin checking children in at 10:15.
NeighborKids is the name given to children birth through sixth grade. We are a volunteer based ministry that strives to be a reflection church body at Neighborhood Church. We consider it a privilege to partner with parents and families as they grow in their faith. Our Sunday program is intended to be fun, safe, child centered and family focused. Our volunteers are asked to use their gifts and talents at a minimum of once each month. While many serve in the class room as leaders or helpers, we have a host of opportunities that make it incredibly rewarding to be a part of a team making a difference in what we believe God is trying to achieve in the heart of each child and their family.
Our Sunday program is designed to include large group and small group elements. Children experience teaching and worship in large group time. Small group settings are geared for the application of the lesson and relationship building, both with peers and caring adult leaders.
We purposefully include our older children in our volunteer scheduling. It is our prayer and goal that they will be given an opportunity to use their gifts to serve. On the second Sunday of the month, fourth, fifth and sixth graders are scheduled as Interns in various positions. We are raising up the next generation to be worshippers, tech supporters, and small group leaders. They are partnered with an adult to oversee their role and build relationship at the same time.
On the fourth Sunday of the month we integrate our Junior High and High School students into our NeighborKids program. It is by design that our Interns work with an established leader with the purpose of mentoring while serving together. How amazing for our younger kids to see faith of all ages in their small group setting! It is also in this setting we are praying for community to built, both with awesome volunteer leaders and with their respective peer groups.
